"Everything that feels good for us..."

We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.

Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.

Card:

The Devil

Affirmation:

I deal wisely with darkness and temptation.

Reflection:

Everything that feels good for us or to us is not.

In short, this card is representative of darkness and temptation. The Devil is a reminder that we will face dark times in our lives, but we do not have to live in darkness; There is always light to be found. The Devil is a reminder that temptation isn’t something we may have to confront one day, but something that we will confront one day. Along our life’s journey, we will encounter people and situations that ostensibly fill a void or bring us intense pleasure but we soon find that this type of pleasure is always followed by deep pain and sorrow or guilt and regret; If or when we find ourselves in this type of situation or connected to an individual that evokes these feelings, it must become our sole responsibility to disengage.

In no way is disengaging an easy task. Honestly, it is one of the most difficult task we have to undertake, but whatever has us connected to a person, place, thing, or idea that is rooted in darkness or temptation will never nourish our soul and spirit the way they desire or deserve to be nourished. If it is rooted in darkness or temptation, at the core it is a negative influence that cannot add true value to our lives.

Application:

  • See the thing (the person, place, thing, idea, or whatever) for what it truly is - not what you wish it could be or want it be or what it once was.

  • Don’t play with fire. Don’t purposely or actively engage with the thing that is of darkness or temptation, and if or when you can’t help but to engage do so wisely and with as much distance as possible.
