"When we find ourselves in states of confusion..."

We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.

Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.

Card:

The Hanged Man

Affirmation:

I surrender all things that no longer serve me. I surrender all things that I can no longer serve.

Reflection:

Sometimes we have to realize that the only thing keeping us from our destiny is our inability to surrender.

Surrendering and releasing are the heart of The Hanged Man. Often, knowingly and unknowingly we can find ourselves holding on to a thing that no longer serves us or that we no longer can serve. By holding on to or trying to hold on to things that we need to release from our life and/or to God, we delay the receiving of what we deserve and desire. In other words, it is as if aspects of our life have limited space; If something or someone we don’t need is occupying said space, the something or someone we do need cannot enter. Typically, it is when we find ourselves in states of confusion that we need to let go and relinquish our earthly power and will over to God’s.

A state of surrender could arguably be one of the most God-connected spaces we encounter; It is at this state that we willingly lay down our plan for a better, greater, and higher plan - God’s plan. When we make the decision to let go, we also make the decision to conquer our fear of the unknown because we are not and cannot always be certain of what lies ahead.  Nevertheless, we can be sure that when we place a thing in the hand of our Creator or release it to the Universe all has been taken care of and increase awaits us.

Application:

I challenge you this week to do a life inventory about things that you need to release and surrender.

  • Take the time to intentionally think about and consider: What in my life do I need to surrender and release?

  • Create a plan of what that looks like for you or how you will do so.

  • Enlist the help of trusted counsel (loved ones, mentors, therapists, etc.) to help with the plan if it is necessary - likely it is.

  • Execute the plan and and start walking down the path of letting go.

Lastly, things we can need to release and surrender could include but are not limited to traumas, grudges, beliefs, relationships, careers, material possessions, what we think could or should have been, etc.
