“i am nothing on my own but everything because of god.”

-Kaila Wilde

"Knowing thyself entails..."

We are all living life with different struggles. We are all navigating life, and though we travel our own paths, we encounter the same themes and realities under different circumstances. A tarot deck is representative of the spectrum of the human experience. Each card in tarot has a traditional meaning and each deck the creator’s interpretation of that meaning. Kaila Wilde uses her knowledge and interpretation of the tarot as a personal growth tool and to create an affirmative statement + note to keep us lifted and to remind us that we are not alone.

Each week, take what you need. Leave what you don’t.

Card:

The Hermit

Affirmation:

I am connected with my inner being (self).

Reflection:

Often, the word solitude is immediately associated with being alone or loneliness. But solitude is not just about being alone; It is equally about going within.

The Hermit is symbolic of solitude and soul-searching. The Hermit reminds us to above all things know thyself. Knowing thyself entails being clear about who we are and what we want and what we need and vice versa; It entails being able to articulate those things. Who are you? What do you want? What do you need? It makes sense that we sometimes find ourselves disappointed in life when we have not been clearly articulating who we are or what we want or what we need because we did not know the answers. It is our responsibility to do the work of connecting with our inner being (self). Connection with our inner being (self) is an essential part of our life’s journey.

Once connection with our inner being (self) is established, it is vital that we are truthful with and to our inner being. We are truthful with our inner being when we are honest with ourselves. We are truthful to our inner being when we live authentically. The most important person that we must be both vulnerable and truthful with is ourself. Intentional inner connection and truth with ourselves creates a space for self-discovery, self-awareness, and self-love to blossom and flourish.

Application:

  • Spend time with yourself. I do not want to give some constructed scheduled of when and how often. You know you. You know what is feasible and what is not. Now make or find the time to just be with yourself. To think. To breathe. To pray. To decompress. To unwind. To be.
